Our Why

Beestar Tries To Understand And Identify The Ecosystem Of Bees

A bee is never just a bee. Behind every hive sits an entire system. Biology, livelihoods, supply chains, markets, and the people who depend on all of it.

We believe no one has ever seen that whole picture at once. So that is exactly where we begin.

Everything Depends On Bees. Almost Nothing About Them Is Measured.

One in three bites of food on your plate depends on pollination. Yet the hives behind it are still run by hand, by memory, and by guess.

When a colony starts to fail, no one knows until the loss is already done. The losses keep climbing, and the demand for pollination climbs faster.

The system the world quietly leans on has been flying blind.

We Turn Every Hive Into Data You Can Trust

We build our own global sensing technology and biosensors, and place them where it matters, inside the colony.

That gives us reliable data from every individual hive, not averages and not estimates.

Then we apply domain specific AX, intelligence built only for bees, to turn that data into value across the whole ecosystem.

Our Tech

The Engine Behind The Bee Dependent Economy

It starts with automated data collection.

Our IoT sensors read what is happening inside the hive around the clock, with no extra work for the beekeeper.

On top of that data we run AI and blockchain to produce more than 32 core apicultural insights, from colony health to traceability you can trust.

Together they form the engine that powers the bee dependent economy.

It Started With A Phone Call

Finding The Problem Of Fake Honey

In 2022, one person called us looking for real honey. That call led us to the problem of fake honey, and the problem of fake honey led us to a beekeeper. Through him we saw the reality of beekeeping for the first time.

Introduction Of The Sensors

We put a sensor in his hives to make his work a little easier. That sensor showed us the problems running through the whole industry. So we started asking questions. One beekeeper led to another, one clue led to the next, and that trail has carried us all the way to today.

How It Began

We came together to help beekeepers become better beekeepers, by giving them the tools and the sight they never had. We put all of our time and all of our energy into that one thing.

About Beestar

We build digital infrastructure for bee dependent economies. That means sensors that go inside commercial hives, an app that turns the data into something useful, and an analytics layer that helps beekeepers, growers, and researchers understand what's actually happening with the bees.
Commercial beekeepers running multi site operations. Growers who depend on pollination. Researchers studying bee health. Industry bodies and government agencies working on the bigger picture. We design for people who manage hives at scale.
We're based in Brisbane and active across Australia. Our research partners sit in NSW and the ACT, and our work covers multiple states and crops. International expansion follows once the Australian operation is solid.

The Technology

Three readings inside the hive, continuously. Temperature, humidity, and light. Together they give us the key indicators of colony health and surface the early warning signs in time to act.
No. The sensor is designed to sit inside the hive without interfering with normal bee activity. Even the colour was chosen based on bee vision research, sitting in a part of the spectrum bees don't react to.
No. The app is built for beekeepers and growers, not engineers. If you can use a phone, you can use BeeSTAR. The technical work happens behind the scenes.

Your Data

You do. We're a signatory to the Australian Farm Data Code, which means your data stays yours and you control how it's used. We don't sell it. We don't share it without your permission.
Standard encryption in transit and at rest, hosted in Australia, with role based access for your team. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Yes. The app lets you generate reports and grant view access where you need to. You stay in control of who sees what.

Working With Us

Get in touch through the contact form. We'll set up a call, walk through what you need, and figure out if BeeSTAR is the right fit. We onboard new operators in a structured way to make sure the deployment goes smoothly.
Yes. We currently work with research partners at UTS, ANU, and Macquarie, and we're open to new collaborations on bee health, pollination science, and traceability. If you've got a project, get in touch.
You'll know more about the hives that pollinate your crop. When the hives arrived, what condition they're in, and how the pollination event went. That helps with planning, certification, and proving outcomes to your buyers.
