BeeSTAR FAQ
About BeeSTAR
What is BeeSTAR?
BeeSTAR is a smart, data-driven platform designed to improve efficiency and productivity in both commercial beekeeping and pollination services.
How does BeeSTAR work?
We use military-grade in-hive sensors placed in brood boxes to monitor hive activity. This data is analysed and displayed in an easy-to-read app, using a traffic light system to highlight hive health and issues.
Why is BeeSTAR important?
Bee pollination is critical for global food production, but beekeepers face growing challenges, including colony losses. BeeSTAR helps monitor hive health at scale, supporting stronger colonies, better pollination outcomes, and improved honey production.
What are you trying to achieve?
Our goal is to help beekeepers manage healthier hives, improve profitability, and ensure strong bee populations for pollination, ultimately supporting agricultural productivity.
Using BeeSTAR
What are the benefits of using BeeSTAR?
BeeSTAR improves beekeeping profitability by reducing inspection time, detecting issues early, and enabling better resource management. By lowering labour, fuel, and operational costs, beekeepers can manage more hives efficiently, increasing productivity and revenue.
How can I save costs with BeeSTAR?
Beekeeping is a race against time. Identifying hive issues like disease, swarming, or weak queens requires frequent inspections. BeeSTAR provides daily hive health alerts, cutting inspection time by up to 90% while improving overall hive management.
Is BeeSTAR complicated to install?
Not at all! Just place the sensor in the brood box—no setup or registration needed. The devices arrive ready to use, and our team is always available if you need assistance.
Can you monitor my Queen’s status?
Yes! Our sensors track colony activity near the Queen, helping detect changes in hive health and Queen performance.
Can BeeSTAR notify me if my hives move?
Absolutely. Our app features geo-fencing alerts, notifying you of any unexpected hive movements to help with biosecurity and theft prevention.
How do I know if my hive is healthy?
BeeSTAR analyses hive activity and historical trends, providing clear health insights and early warning alerts for potential issues.
Pricing & Subscription
Do I need to buy the devices?
No upfront costs! BeeSTAR operates on an annual subscription (HaaS model), covering hardware, software, connectivity, and updates. Fees are paid every six months.
Can I test BeeSTAR before fully committing?
Yes, but trials are paid. Since BeeSTAR is already tested by commercial beekeepers, our trials run for up to three months under specific terms and conditions.
What if I want to stop using BeeSTAR?
You can cancel anytime. However, an early termination fee may apply if you stop before your contract ends. Check your service agreement for details.
What’s the minimum order size?
BeeSTAR is designed for large-scale operations. Contact us to find the best solution for your needs.
Can BeeSTAR handle large commercial operations?
Yes! Our system is built for scalability, efficiently managing hundreds or thousands of hives.
Data, Privacy & Support
Can I trust BeeSTAR with my data?
Yes. We’re the first Australian beekeeping tech firm compliant with the National Farm Data Code. You own your data, and we protect your privacy under strict terms and conditions.
How do users get a copy of their data?
You can request your data anytime while your account is active. We also provide regular reports.
How often do I need to change the battery in the device?
Our sensors have a battery life of over three years, included as part of the subscription.
Does BeeSTAR rely on approximations for estimates?
No. Our data comes directly from each brood box—no rough guesses or mathematical simulations. We sense, not guess.
What if there’s a malfunction?
No worries. We monitor sensors daily and will repair or replace faulty devices if needed. Optional insurance is available for extra coverage.
How do I get started?
Simple! Contact us, and we’ll help you set everything up so you can start benefiting from digital beekeeping.
